Review: Lion City - Change The Only Constant EP

Lion City from Stuttgart, Germany always reminded me of the almighty Cold World. I know, that must sound like overpraise to all those Cold World fans out there. But believe me - it's not.

The guys in Lion City manage to sound tough but not too tough, fresh like downy and with some serious punk edge. Armed with a good production and even better vocals.

Let's check out the EP track by track ...

"Lion's Den" is the opener. Seems to be something like a Lion City hymn - self-adulation galore. Musically strong, lyrically by far the weakest song on the whole EP.

Lyrically, "19FUX4U" is a big fuck you to all kind of trend whores while the music is a catchy mix between old and new school hardcore.

The third track is called "Track 6". "Your freedom ends where the freedom of another one begins": nice work. I like the flow, I like the rhymes and I even like the spoken words.

Same thing with "From Ashes": Nice flow and nice rhymes. Plus great gang vox. Very cold-worldish, maybe the best track on "Change The Only Constant".

The last song is called "Frozen", bringing some strong By The Grace Of God vibe, really touching. Emo how it should be made!

The lesson is clear: Give Lion City a chance - you won't regret it. Check 'em out on Facebook and buy the EP. I dig it!
